Other members of the detector radar family include: car radar detector systems, weather radar systems, and cordless radar systems. Metal detectors are made up of an oscillator that produces an alternating current that passes through a coil, which creates an alternating magnetic field. This means that when an electronically conductive metal is near the detector, it creates eddies of air, which causes a change in the magnetic field, which enables the operator to see where the metal is, one of the example for this is metal detectors gold.

Handheld detectors are the most common, and are used in the majority of cases. Even land mines can be detected through the use of handheld devices. However, for really deep metals, ground penetrating radar is used in conjunction with the metal detector to unearth the hidden metal. Metal detector is a very useful and entertaining tool. It is hard to imagine someone never having seen one. Nearly everyone has come in contact with metal detectors at least once. It is an interesting fact that the metal detector is part of the detector radar family.

This is due to the fact that many detectors use a cordless radar system in their mechanisms. The metal detector also has an interesting history, and thinking about it the next time you’re standing at a security checkpoint will give you something to ponder to pass the time.

Mostly nowadays it is dominated by the ARM architecture and the Android OS but, ASUS released one of those so-called Wintel tablets, complete with a larger form factor and matching price. Many tablets of today have similar specifications, especially those loaded with the Android OS and running ARM chips.

While there is some variety to the hardware, the end result is, usually, the same sort of product that strives to stick to the $500 price mark set by the Apple iPad. ASUS decided to play the other card available, that of an Intel-Windows hardware-software combo. Such tablets have actually existed since well before the media slate even appeared, though they were usually specialized, for medical, industrial and professional use, etc.

The device that ASUS created is called Eee Slate EP121 and is powered by an Intel Core i5-470UM central processing unit. This CPU is backed up by 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory) and has its own integrated graphics, like any other Core series chip.

In the meantime, storage space is provided by a solid state drive (SSD), whose exact capacity is 64 GB. All of the above, along with Bluetooth 3.0, 802/11 b/g/n WiFi, a 2-in-1 card reader, a 2 megapixel webcam, USB 2.0 and HDMI are packed inside a frame measuring 312 (W) x 207.2 (D) x 16.95 (H) mm. This means that the display is larger than the so-called standard of 10.1 inches, going to 12.1 inches and the 1280 x 800 resolution. Finally, everything is kept operational, including said panel and the inherent multitouch capabilities (both pend and finger) for up to 4.5 hours, by the 34W/hr battery.

The IT industry has spawned many things over the years, from small and single-purpose gadgets to large, powerful systems and appliances.

The small things in life like smartphones and tablets are, right now, reliant, for the most part, on a certain operating system known as Android. It so happens, however, that Japanese company Sanyo has devised a very different use for this very same software solution. Instead of making some new consumer electronic or another, at least in the traditional sense, Sanyo loaded it onto a robot.

Granted, the robot itself doesn’t truly fit with the standard idea of a robot, that of an at least vaguely humanoid or shaped like any other living thing capable of movement. Instead, the Mirai SANZO Smart Home Robot is more of an appliance and has a spherical shape, even coming with a smiling face for good measure.

The purpose of this happy-looking, greenish thing is to take charge of as many power-connected products in the household as possible and manage them in such a way that power consumption is reduced. Then again, boosting convenience is also something within the prime directives of the Mirai Sanzo, as it is supposedly capable of handling the air conditioner or filling the bathtub with water of whatever temperature users might choose.

What’s more, in order to bring the issue of security into the mix, the robot is designed with the ability to send cellphone alerts in case of fires or alarms getting triggered. Unfortunately, in addition to the unlikelihood of worldwide availability, the other piece of bad news is that no pricing details exist for now.

This is his second travel to the city to find some job. The first one wasn’t so successful. He did manage to find one, but something happened that pushed him to go home. Now, he is trying his luck again. Thanks to the third sibling he can go to the city without problems.

Well, I joke him to buy me tablet for pc if he finds a job. I’ve been checking the BlackBerry 32gb PlayBook for quite some time already. It supports POSIX OS, SMP, BlackBerry 6, WebKit, Adobe Flash, Java and Adobe Mobile AIR and powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and with 1GB of RAM. But, I’m just joking when I ask him to buy it. Actually, I have been saving for that gadget and I’m halfway to get it. But, if he would give me one, then I will gladly accept it.

The new Canon camera will be called the 5D Mark III and, just like its predecessors, will feature a full frame 35mm sensor. However, its resolution has now been raised from the 21.1MP of the Mark II to 32MP and Canon has also brought a series of other improvements such as a higher ISO range (which starts at 100 and goes all the way up to 25600) and an updated Digic V image processor. This has been tuned to deliver better image quality and improved noise reduction when compared with its predecessor.

In addition, the camera also comes with a new 19-point auto-focus system, a slightly larger LCD that also uses a new aspect ratio, a new video auto-focus technology and is compatible with CompactFlash (Type I or Type II) memory cards. The Mark III’s continuous shooting performance has been raised from 3.9fps, for the current iteration of the 5D, to 4.2fps.

According to the Canon Rumors website, the Japanese company has built three such prototypes of the EOS 5D Mark III and these were sent out for testing to various key photographers. No information regarding the release date of the Mark III is available, but this is expected to arrive before Canon rolls out a replacement for the EOS-1Ds. The current version of the EOS-5D was announced in September of 2008 and it uses a 21.1MP full-frame sensor which is paired with a DIGIC 4 image processor. The Mark II was the first DSLR to feature 1080p video recording and the Mark III is expected to improve the video capabilities of its predecessor.

Convertible tablets market might not be the greatest of segments on the IT industry, but it doesn’t seem to be in any danger of disappearing, so the fact that Fujitsu is now selling one of these things isn’t too great a shock. Media tablets may be a relatively new product type, but convertible ones have been in existence for much longer than them. The reason they have been holding out fairly well is the fact that they meet the portability and performance standards needed by professional applications, like healthcare, education, industrial etc.

If one were to describe a convertible slate in just a few words, it is a laptop whose screen can rotate and bend back, so that one can swap between the laptop and tablet form factors. Naturally, this means that the screen has support for touch input, usually multitouch with stylus recognition included. Fujitsu’s LifeBook T901 definitely qualifies as this sort of electronic device, actually featuring two touchscreen options.

Like most every other product of its type out there, the LifeBook T901 is powered by an Intel central processing unit. In this case, the 2.5 GHz Core i5-2520M vPro is backed up by 2 GB of DDR3 memory and packed, along with all other necessary computer parts, inside a 13.3-inch casing whose LCD display has the native resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels. Finally, some measure of security exists, thanks to the integrated SmartCard slot, Fingerprint Sensor, and embedded TPM.

As the name suggests quite clearly, what we’re dealing with here is a wireless controller capable of delivering quite a large number of features and functions, particularly useful for a HTPC. So, basically, what we’re talking about here is a 56-key 2.4 GHz RF Wireless keyboard that also packs a built-in optical touch pad (with gesture support), that will really come in handy for browsing the web or controlling multimedia playback, which are exactly the main functions most HTPCs are typically used for.

As mentioned earlier, this hybrid peripheral works on a wireless RF interface, providing a 10 meter range in open space and around 7 or 8 meters in an office environment, for example, and requiring users to connect a tiny USB dongle to the PC system the MIX Gestures device is hooked up to. The fact that the device’s optical sensor sports a 400 dpi resolution, and that the keyboard’s power requirements are actually not that high, given the fact that it only requires 2 x AAA batteries in order to operate.

It’s also worth mentioning that this mouse/keyboard combo will actually take only a very small amount of space around one’s home, given the fact that it measures just around 109 x 59 x 18 mm and weighs somewhere in the vicinity of 93 grams. And the best part is, the MIX Gestures Wireless Mini Keyboard Mouse from Brando is not even that expensive, selling for somewhere in the vicinity of 50 US dollars, which, to be perfectly honest, is quite an okay price point, given its features.

Through the eagerness that Samsung displayed recently, by unleashing various TVs, it isn’t that surprising to hear that it ended up as the major LCD TV supplier in 2010, although, true enough, it didn’t stay on top during the fourth quarter. Whoever ends up on top of a certain market segment for a long enough period of time can safely claim to be one of the greatest suppliers in whatever market it won leadership of.

Such an accomplishment not only proves the reliability and quality of one’s products, but also draws a certain kind of favor on the part of the consumer base, persuading more customers to buy products. For the market of LED-backlit TVs in the US, Samsung is the one that ended up as the leading brand in 2010. On the other hand, the company didn’t manage to keep the leading position during the fourth quarter, as that seat was taken by VIZIO. VIZIO shipped 2.9 million LCD TVs in Q4, corresponding to an increase of 78.9 percent (third quarter sales were of 1.6 million).

In other words, the outfit accounted for 27.6% of all LCD shipments in the last three-month period of last year, mostly thanks to a surge in LED-backlit display demand. “Samsung, with its strong business in both plasma and LCD sets, historically has led this area,” says a recent announcement. However, Vizio moved ahead because of the aggressive shipments of feature-rich LCD TVs at attractive pricing through its distribution network. The reason this didn’t win VIZIO yearly lead was because Samsung performed well during the previous three quarters, securing an overall share of 20.1%, while VIZIO was left with 18.4%.

Despite Vizio’s achievement, Samsung’s primacy in flat-panel television shipments during the first three quarters of 2010 meant that the South Korean giant upheld its perch at the top for the year as a whole.

One of the first important selling points the GW-300R has in store is the fact that it comes equipped with a hardware Wi-Fi On/Off button, meaning that one will be able to instantly “kill” the network without having to access the router’s software configuration panel.

Likewise, the device also sports an eco-friendly power management system, as well as numerous security options, starting from the wireless network security features (WPA2, WEP, etc.) and also including a built-in firewall, among others. Plus, it also offers QOS and Web Site Blocking functions, as well as WPS functionality, is DLNA compliant and provides users with a useful IPTV pass-through feature.

Certainly, the Giga Router from AirLive also sports plenty of connectivity options, including here a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 switch, as well as USB 2.0 support, enabling both file and printer sharing. And since we’ve reached the topic of file sharing, we’ll also have to point out that the device from AirLive enables support for up to 20K sessions, which seriously boosts the speed of P2P file transfers.

Nearly everyone carries USB flash drive around nowadays, and while the number of devices that are still powered by AA batteries, instead of rechargeable Li-Ion units is constantly decreasing, the truth of the matter is that combining these two concepts seems like a really interesting idea. In fact, that’s exactly what designer Wonchul Hwang did, the plans for a very interesting product that actually combines an AA battery with an USB flash drive providing both storage capabilities and power on the go.

The “AA USB”, as this thing has been called, actually incorporates an USB-rechargeable Li-Ion battery, as well as an external LED battery charge indicator, so that users will be able to know just how much juice there’s left at any given moment. The battery module is activated by twisting the drive’s body, the same process pushing out or retracting the USB connector that has a double duty when connected to a port on a computer: charges the internal battery and allows users to access the data stored on the flash drive module.

This is not the first USB-powered batteries we’ve ever come about, the USB Cell being around ever since 2006, while USB chargers for normal AA units are also nothing new. However, that makes the design by Wonchul Hwang even more plausible and easier to turn into a real product, since actually putting into practice the design seems to be an easy-enough job for any skilled engineered (and there are plenty around, if we take a look at the latest consumer electronics to make their way onto the market).

Hopefully, the designer will be able to find some partners for the AA USB device, and who knows, maybe in a couple of years’ time, we’ll see these things actually arrive on the market.
