Wireless Convenience – there are many benefits of using wireless devices. The basic plus to going wireless is enjoying the freedom to work or communicated without being tied down. You can travel freely and stay connected, without the hassle of connection cables. There is a safety factor to consider as well. Bluetooth technology eliminates the risk of getting tangled with wires if, for example, you’re wrestling with a wired headset while trying to drive a car.

Instant Gratification - using bluetooth devices allows you the freedom to communicate without setting up connections or pushing buttons. When two or more Bluetooth devices enter a range of 30 feet or less, they will instantly begin to communicate with each other. There’s nothing more that you need to do.

Budget Friendly - the benefits of Bluetooth also extend to your pocketbook. Bluetooth technology is inexpensive for companies to implement. Lower costs lead to lower corporate overhead, and the savings may well be passed on to customers like you.

Sets the Standard - bluetooth is standardized wireless. This means that the technology is guaranteed to meet a high level of compatibility with other wireless devices. Bluetooth technology allows many different devices to connect and communicate, even if they are different models.

Less Interference - bluetooth devices are almost always able to avoid interference from other wireless devices. The Bluetooth uses a technology known as frequency hopping, as well as low power wireless signals.

Conserves Energy - bluetooth uses low power signals, so the technology requires very little energy. One of the most practical benefits of Bluetooth you’ll find is in using fewer batteries or less electrical power. Bluetooth won’t drain the batteries on mobile devices.

Shared Data and Voices - the standard for Bluetooth technology allows compatible devices to share data and voice communications. Of all the benefits of Bluetooth this is most important to drivers who need to talk hands-free on their cellphones.

Instant Personal Area Network – you can form your own PAN (personal area network) by connecting up to seven Bluetooth devices within a range of up to thirty feet. Multiples PANS, or piconets, can be set up within a single room

Upgrade - technology is constantly being upgraded, and Bluetooth is ready to comply with whatever changes may come along. Newer versions of Bluetooth are now being released, offering even more advantages. Many have backward compatibility with older Bluetooth versions.

Technology For Keeps - bluetooth technology is used and available worldwide. It’s a universal standard that will be around for many years to come. As more and more devices implement Bluetooth technology, more manufacturers will find it necessary to make their products compatible. The “supply and demand” chain reaction has already set Bluetooth as a standard in cutting-edge wireless.

With the advancement of technology LCD are quite familiar to computer user and we can see most of them are using LCD. It would be a challenge for LCD manufacturing companies to fulfill the growing demand of LCD in the market. Here are some comparisons between LCD monitor and CRT monitor is given below:

LCD panels are only an inch thick without including the stand. These consume less power and don’t radiate a lot of heat when used, unlike CRT monitor.

Their digital display is sharper and produce good quality picture as compare to CRT monitor.

An LCD monitor is slim and comes in a very compact configuration. They can be fit easily into any less vacant part of the room or anywhere. They are very suitable for small offices or homes

But its difficult for everyone to afford LCD display because LCD display screens or monitors are quite expensive as compare to CRT

LCD screens or displays are very sensitive and should be handling with care. They are not suitable for minor used.

As far as moving images or 3D images are concern, LCD screen are blurry and unclear. Hence, someone prefers CRT over LCD screens. Graphic designers also prefer the CRT over the LCD. Not only that, the color gradations are not clear in the LCD panel, and it causes problems in differentiating between darker shades, creating practical problems for graphic designers.

Basically, hard drive stores data but it isn’t perfect by any means. Hard drive failure is very common with all computers, with no real way to prevent it. Although there are several different reasons why a hard drive can fail, the most common is overheating. Viruses and crashes are common as well, along with theft and accidental deletion. With the older style and mechanics of hard drives, the RPM speed was low, meaning that the drives wouldn’t overheat. The hard drives we use now days, have speeds between 7,200 and 10,000 RPM, meaning that they can get quite hot when they start working.

One area that suffers from the drive overheating is the platters, which are magnetic media. Platters are what carry the data throughout the hard drive. Platters are constructed from optical glass, aluminum, or ceramic and normally coated with a layer of magnetic material. Once the hard drive begins to heat up, the platters will start to expand, which changes their size. When this happens, the magnetic surface on the platters will get destroyed, which results in a loss of data. If the physical area of the platters are damaged, it will result in unreadable sectors.

Other areas of the hard drive that can be damaged due to overheating are the read and write heads, head actuator, and the controller chip. Hard drives are very sophisticated pieces of hardware, and can’t handle overheating. The read and write heads are a common example, as they can easily render the drive useless if they become damaged. If they get too hot, they don’t make any contact with media, which pretty much stops the flow of transfer from information to the computer.

To prevent your hard drive from overheating, you should always make sure that it is cooled properly and well ventilated. You can always get additional fans and coolers, which will improve both ventilation and the flow of air in your computer. You can buy fans and coolers at very affordable prices, which makes them an ideal investment for keeping your hard drive or hard drives cool.

You can also get software that monitors the temperature of your hard drive as well. Whether its software, or additional fans, you should always ensure that your hard drives are kept cool. By keeping them cool, you’ll greatly reduce the amount of crashes. You’ll also increase the stability of your hard drive as well, which will make your entire computer perform much better.

Don’t open an attachment unless you’re expecting it.

If you have broadband Internet access, such as DSL or cable, get a router, even if you only have one PC. A router adds an extra layer of protection because your PC is not connecting directly with the Internet.

Check your Internet ports. These doorways between your computer and the Internet can be open, in which case your PC is very vulnerable; closed, but still somewhat vulnerable; or stealthed (or hidden), which is safest. Visit Gibson Research’s Web site and run the free ShieldsUP test to see your ports’ status. If some ports show up as closed–or worse yet, open–check your router’s documentation to find out how to hide them.

I personally have always wanted the OS to include a way to do a mass file renaming on a bunch of files. You can now rename multiple files at once in windows XP. It’s really simple, just follow these simple steps:

Select several files in Explorer, then press F2 and rename one of those files to something else. All the selected files get renamed to the new file name (plus a number added to the end).

That’s it, Simple huh! I would recommend that you only have the files you want to rename in the directory your working in. I would also recommend that until you get used to this neat little trick that you save copies of the files in a safe location while you’re getting the hang of it.

And like human language, there are many different computer languages. Essentially, computer software can be divided into three main groups depending on their use and application. These are system software or operating system referred simply as the OS, application software and programming languages. Usually most of us interact with a computer using application software.

System Software: System software or operating system is the software used by the computer to translate inputs from various sources into a language which a machine can understand. Basically, the OS coordinates the different hardware components of a computer. There are many OS in the market. The most popular Os are from the stable of Microsoft. We have all heard, used and wondered at the Windows software, which is an OS. Starting with Windows, Microsoft has migrated to Vista, its latest offering in the market. It may come as a surprise to some that there are other operating systems used by others. Among these UNIX is used for large office setups with extensive networking. XENIX is software which has now become redundant. HP -UX and AIX are some operating systems used by HP computers. Apache OS is quite popular with web servers. IBM still uses proprietary operating systems for its main frames. Proprietary systems are generally built with the help of a variant of UNIX operating system.

Application software: A normal user rarely gets to see the operating system or to work with it. But all of us are familiar with application software which we must use to interact with a computer. Popular examples of application software are the Microsoft office suite which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. We have used these applications extensively. Internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox is two applications used to access the internet. E-mail software like Outlook express is used to manage Emails. It is obvious that all software utilized for working on a computer is classified as application software. In fact all user interfaces are an application. The anti-virus is an application and so is the Media player.

Programming languages: Now this is a kind of computer software which is used exclusively by computer programmers. Unless we are also programmers, we are unlikely to come across programming languages. A simple way to understand programming languages is to think of them as bricks which can be used to create applications and operating system. C++, Java and Simlab are some popular programming languages. Generally Java is used for internet applications. C++ is a language of professional developers and used extensively in developing operating systems. PHP is another language used for internet applications. There is a new class of languages which are being utilized for the mobiles. These are light weight, modular languages which are used to design mobile applications.

Basically, it is a small piece of equipment that produces a hard copy of the documents which have been stored in electronic form in a computer. Printers are rated by types of resolutions. These are measured in DPI, i.e., dots per square inch. More the DPI, the better is the quality.

Laser printing technology gives the best quality prints and so it is getting huge popularity. Both inkjet and laser printers have memory that allows the printing jobs to be stored. These are quieter and very convenient to use. Before making a purchase decision, one must take care of the following points.

Look for the adequate print technology that suits your requirements. Knowing about the specifications and other features of the different brands of printers.

Calculate the operating costs of running different printers and then make the best decision. If someone is looking for high-volume printing, they should go for laser printers. These printers have a faster speed and better capabilities.

Always read conditions that are given on the websites so that you can escape from the risk of getting breached. One should not fall in the trap of such portals that claim to offer cheap printers.

Printing speed of copiers is one of the most significant factors that determine the quality of print. So, compare the speed of different models that are available in the markets.

Today, mobile printers and large format copiers have come into the markets. These give new dimensions to the uses of printers.

Narrowing down which type of barcode scanner we are talking about is the first thing we have to do. There are many types of barcode scanners from laser scanners, CCD barcode scanners, imager type scanners, and more. Our first focus will be on how a CCD barcode scanner works.

Basically, CCD barcode scanner is a scanner that has no moving parts. CCD stands for Charged-Coupled Devise Scanner. The scanner has a light source that when pointed to an object or barcode, it illuminates that image. The image is usually a barcode. Once the barcode is illuminated, a reflection is created and the barcode scanner reads that image. This will work through the linear photodiode within the scanner head. This photodiode can read the reflected light off the lines on the barcode. This reflection is a digital image that is then scanned electronically within the devise. When the image is scanned electronically, each bar on the barcode is converted to the corresponding number or letter.

Now we can look at how a laser barcode scanner works. The laser scanner works by sending a low energy light beam or laser beam to read the spacing between a pattern on the image one space at a time. The beam is moving back and forth by using a mobile mirror which causes a blinking effect. You can usually see the red line moving over the barcode. The reflection comes back and is then read by the fixed mirror in the scanner. The scanner then generates analog and digital signals that match the pattern. A barcode reader decoder then processes the information and sends it through the data communications interface.

Knowing how a barcode scanner works answers a lot of questions about where you can use a barcode scanner. They are becoming so popular now, you can find them everywhere in retail stores scanning items.

Zip it Up. Copy all your photos onto a portable hard drive or key chain flash drive. That way, when you visit others, you can high-tech help take it with you and share photos easily.

Name the Same. Use the same labeling structure for computer files, paper files, and email folders. (For example, label them all Family, Health, Work, etc.) Be consistent and you’ll see how easy it is to locate stuff.

Ease your email. Create different folders within your inbox, and then apply “filters” to incoming email. Once set up, it will automatically sort most mail, letting you postpone communication until you have time. Another trick: If your mail client allows, mark as “unread” mail in your inbox that still needs to be acted on.

Get a group. Personally speaking, I enter numbers into her cell phone directory (or computer contact list) I put an R before the names of restaurants, W before work colleagues, F before friends, and so on. This automatically groups my contacts. To get frequently dialed names to the top of the list, enter a blank space in front of the name, and it will zoom up in your alphabetical listing.
