Canadian mobile phone users interested in the purchase of the latest smartphone from Research in Motion, namely the BlackBerry Torch 9800, can now pre-order the device via Best Buy. This new BlackBerry mobile phone is expected to make an appearance on the market in Canada on September 24, when it would be put on sale at four carriers in the country, including Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Virgin Mobile.
“Be one of the first to own the new BlackBerry Torch, the first BlackBerry slider. To pre-order, visit your local Best Buy Mobile location and provide a $50 deposit, when the phone becomes available we will contact you so you can be one of the first to experience the Torch,” is what Best Buy announced.
The specifications list of the handset include 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display capable to deliver a 360 x 480 pixel resolution, a portrait sliding keypad, a 624 Mhz processor, and 512 MB of Flash memory. This new device also comes with aWi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity options, as well as with 3.5mm headset jack and built-in GPS receiver, as well as with a 1300 mAhr battery capable of providing up to 5.8 hours of talk time. Measuring 4.4 (5.8 open) x 2.4 x .57 inches and weighing in at 5.68 ounces, the new BlackBerry Torch sports a microSD/SDHD memory card slot that can support up to 32 GB of additional storage space.
The new BlackBerry 6 OS the handset runs under comes with enhanced multimedia features, as well as with a brand new Webkit browser set to deliver a better navigation experience than previous versions of the solution did.
