It means it maximizes operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. It gives them the opportunity to make operations, maintenance, upgrades and strategies that point to the company’s environmental performance goal. Also, LEED certified buildings often provide healthier work and living environments that contribute to higher productivity and improved employee health and comfort.
This certification might add up additional costs to the initial design and construction. But, building owners should keep in mind that most strategies reduce operational costs over the life of the building and pay for themselves many times over.
