As our technology becomes even more sophisticated, the infrastructure built also follows. As we all know, most modern structures grow bigger and bolder. Skycrapers reach as high as 2,684 ft and buildings as big as 13.3 million m³. That figure will increase as time goes by. That is why exit signs leading to emergency exits become even more important.
Almost all of these big buildings are safe and built to last. So, people won’t have to worry about calamities to put it down. However, first timers to visit most of these structures have the tendency to easily get lost. And one way that may lead them out is the EXIT SIGNS.
Of course, parallel to the evolution of buildings are the improvements or rather evolution of exit sign. The earlier stage of exit signs were generally made either by metal and lit by incandescent bulb or a glass covers that it directly over a single-bulb light fixture. However, newer or modern generation exit signs are mostly made of materials that don’t require external power source or battery backup. They use a mechanism similar to fluorescent lighting, but powered by tritium instead of an electrical current, and are available in models that are rated to last up to 20 years.
The bigger the building, the more important for it to have emergency exits coupled with the right exit signs. It will spell out how disaster will end up.
