I’m sure you will agree with me that SSDs have become increasingly popular and as more companies develop new SSDs to steal their fair share of the market with, it is my belief that solid state drives or something along this line will soon replace regular hard drives just like the DVD replaced the CD. Corsair is not pretty famous for its SSD offerings since it only delivered one model, but it is determined enough to actually make a difference on the market. So, they have high hopes with its new ultra-fast 256GB unit that is due to arrive rather sooner than later and which will literally double the number of SSDs that Corsair has to offer. This fresh 256GB solid state drive has a new controller and 64MB of cache that is said to improve performance by a very large degree.
Rumors said that the product’s name will be P256, although the version that is given for testing is S256. For unknown reasons, the S will be chancing to a P, but let’s hope that everything else remains the same. The P256 (or S256, whatever) solid state drive offers read speeds of around 200MB/s, while writing is situated at around 169.1 MB/s, with 1ms random access and 248.2MB/s burst speed.
