A clever marketing tactic can prove to be the key to a product becoming an instant hit. However, some tactics require companies to take some pretty big risks, and that’s exactly the case with XSKN, a manufacturer of protective covers for various portable devices, who has just launched a line of such accessories for the iPhone nano. Yes, that’s no spelling error. It’s not the iPod nano or the iPhone 3G, but the iPhone nano, a product that, up until now, is nothing but a rumor.

But now, as you’ve probably figured out for yourselves, this whole situation with XSKN’s iPhone nano protective cases will have three possible endings: the iPhone nano will be launched soon and then XSKN will be the first company or at least among the first companies to launch an accessory for this product; the iPhone nano is indeed just vaporware, and then somebody from XSKN really made a blunder by creating a product for it. This is just a marketing gimmick meant to attract more users to XSKN’s shop and make its other products more popular something that, most likely, has happened already. Of course, it remains to be seen which of these possibilities will turn into reality – if any! But we certainly hope that those rumors prove to be true, since a smaller and, why not! Cheaper iPhone would be quite welcome.
