IVF Minus The Test Tube Goes On Trial

According to the Times of London, the British doctors will be testing the safety and effectiveness of a new IVF procedure which lets eggs develop inside the womb rather than a test tube. The Care Fertility unit in Nottingham is “recruiting 40 women for the world’s first clinical trial of the procedure, which intends to transform infertility treatment by exploiting the natural environment in which embryos develop.” The device tested in the study is an intrauterine incubator featuring cell encapsulation technology developed by the Swiss company Anecova SA, which was profiled by us back in December. So, it is nice to know that at least some of these technologies are being taken seriously by others and not just by us”. Well, this is truly the edge of medical invention! Hopefully they can pursue and have the right things to do, before lunching it to the market.
