~hey guys! here is one of the new virus taken up in the computer world and I have here the ways how to manually delete that irritating virus… so guys check this out!!!
Here’s how to manually remove Krag.exe:
1. reformat your usb drive.
2. remove your usb drive, and dont plug it in back yet.
3. go to control panel>folder options>view
check ‘show hidden files and folders’
uncheck ‘hide protected operating system files’
4. run ‘search’ from your start bar or your explorer toolbar.
5. search for krag.exe on all of your hard drives
(ideally it would be hiding in your c:/windows folder, but we’ve used search to see if any other instances are hiding elsewhere in your drive.)
6. delete all instances found by pressing shift+delete. this way, krag.exe wont go hiding in your recycle bin.
(if krag.exe could not be deleted from c:/windows, run ‘task manager’ by pressing ctrl+alt+del then go to ‘processes.’ look for krag.exe from the listing. then kill the process by right-clicking on it then selecting end process. then. go ahead and delete krag.exe)
7. go to c:/recycle then shift+delete all the file folders inside. (most viruses hide out here too. ex: rontokbro.a)
8. go back to search and then search for desktop.ini and autorun.inf
9. delete all instances of desktop.ini (most of them are useless anyways)
10. here’s the tricky part. open in notepad all found instances of autorun.inf and check for ones containing the words krag.exe inside the text file. delete them.
11. while doing all of these, leave an explorer window with c:/windows open to check and see if krag.exe respawns. if it does, just delete it again using the steps mentioned above. check it from time to time.
12. plug in your usb drive. go to my computer but dont open your usb drive just yet. just right click on it and analyze the popup menu. if it displays two menu options for ‘autorun’ then you’re still infected. format your usb drive again or navigate to x:/recycler (x = your usb drive’s drive letter.) then delete all the files contained therein.
